Long Players

Wild Billy Childish & The Musicians of the British Empire

album cover

Christmas 1979
Damaged Goods

Begins with Billy as a creepy Father Christmas making Nurse Julie’s wish come half true (he can’t bring back The Sonics so they play a Sonic’s song instead), then the band go on to kick out 11 other pounding seasonal crackers including ‘Christmas 1979’, winner of an anti-single. This is what Christmas actually sounds like - real, difficult, raw and fun. A Christmas album that’s actually worth listening to? Ding dong.
