The one-time 13th biggest site on the internet has been shut down by the Feds

You know MegaUpload, because you use it perfectly legally to transfer files. Or, rather, you did.

Federal prosecutors in Virginia have shut it down, after accusations that the company is liable for more than $500m in lost royalties from copyrighted material. The founders of the site have been charged.

The forced closure of what was once the 13th biggest site on the internet is certainly a massive story in what’s turning out to be a transformative week for the web. Read more here
