About the Black Country, Judas Priest’s Rob Halford once told us: “You’ve got pioneering bands that have come from that part of the world and have left a significant mark in the picture of rock’n’roll.” That’s something of an understatement and the Home of Metal series of cultural events, taking place from June to September, will both examine and celebrate the Midlands’ contribution to heavy rock. Witness pieces like the handmade quilts shown here, on show at the Wolverhampton Art Gallery, and other artefacts, available to examine at the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery, New Art Gallery in Walsall and elsewhere.
