Rose Elinor Dougall has released a free download of demo tracks ahead of her second solo album. ‘The Distractions EP’ is available below and features songs which were recorded just after the release of 2010’s Without Why.

Dougall’s brother Tom, now the singer and guitarist in Toy (interviewed in the latest issue of The Stool Pigeon, out now), and Ralegh Long played on the demos with her. In a statement, she says: “Whilst I was recording some new demos this December, we came across this group of recordings and thought it was a waste to let them gather dust, so we gave them a  bit of polish and made some little videos for you.”

Fans anticipating the new album shouldn’t take ‘The Distractions EP’ as a clue as to how it will sound, however. Says Dougall: “I want to stress that this is not from the new record — since we recorded these songs, a whole new body of work has been formed that has suggested a different path to me from the one gestured towards here. But I really hope you enjoy it all the same.”
