Former NWA man is music's highest earning star, according to new Forbes list
DR DRE is the highest paid music celebrity in the world, according to a new chart compiled by Forbes.
The former NWA rapper and producer saw off competition from the likes of Simon Cowell and Elton John to claim the title of music industry’s highest earner, with a reported $110 million (£69.5m) in earnings.
The Forbes World’s Most Powerful Celebrities List also draws on factors like press coverage and social reach to determine the ultimate who’s-who of celebrity power players.
Jennifer Lopez, for instance, tops the overall list, with meagre earnings of $52m — but a far bigger televisual presence than Dre, presumably down to things like X Factor judging panel spots.
Oprah Winfrey and candyfloss-pubed teeny bopper Justin Bieber follow close behind at numbers two and three, with $165m and $55m in the bank respectively.
