Live Nation to scrap concerts at London location after contract negotiations stall
LIVE Nation is to shelve its Hyde Park concert series after losing patience with planning authorities, according to The Guardian.
The live music giant, which has produced more than a decade’s worth of shows at the park in Central London, including Wireless Festival, Hard Rock Calling and Live 8, has pulled out of negotiations for a new contract which would have secured them rights to stage shows until 2019.
The company branded the tender process for the five-year contract as “flawed”, and has submitted a letter of complaint to the Royal Park’s agency. It is thought that the letter cites problems such as noise (remember the kerfuffle when organisers pulled the plug on Bruce Springsteen and Macca mid-concert in July?), safety issues and unrealistic revenue assumptions.
