The Good Lord JP’s record collection to go online

JOHN Peel’s record collection is to be put up online in ‘virtual’ form as part of an Arts Council project called The Space — a recreation of the DJ’s home studio at The John Peel Centre in Stowmarket.
The collection, which contains roughly 25,000 LPs, 40,000 singles and thousands of CDs, will be uploaded to the site (due to be launched in May) for fans to view.
The digital vault will also include personal notes, video interviews with his family and musicians, plus extra material. The original artwork will be scanned to accompany the list, but listening may be limited due to copyright issues — there will be access to the Peel Sessions via the BBC radio achieves, though.
The John Peel Centre aims to put 100 albums online each week as the project runs from May to October (2,500 in total).
