NICK Cave & the Bad Seeds’ fifteenth studio album, Push The Sky Away, has been announced for a February 2013 release date.

The record, which is the band’s first since 2008’s Dig, Lazarus Dig!!!, is described by Cave as feeling “new in an old school kind of way”, and is reportedly inspired by life at home in Brighton and the wonders of the internet.

The album was produced by Nick Launay, who has overseen all of the Bad Seeds’ recent output, and was recorded in a 19th century mansion in the south of France.

Cave says of the record, which the press release ventures to call the most “subtly beautiful” of all Bad Seeds records: “Well, if I were to use that threadbare metaphor of albums being like children, then Push The Sky Away is the ghost-baby in the incubator and Warren’s loops are its tiny, trembling heart-beat.”

A first song from the album, ‘We No Who U R’, will be available to download from December 3.  The album will follow on February 18. Full tracklisting is as below, and can we just be the first to say — ‘Higgs Boson Blues’? MASSIVE GROAN. Thanks.
