The New York band's third album is finished, set for release in May
VAMPIRE Weekend have confirmed that work on their “from-the-gut” third album is complete.
The New York band teased a May 7 release date for the record, which follows 2010 sophomore effort Contra, on Twitter last night. They also linked to a Tumblr which features a new pic of the band alternating with Emanuel Gottlieb Leutze’s famous ‘Washington Crossing The Delaware’ painting.
The album was reportedly some 20 months in the making, and has been produced by Usher/Major Lazer man Ariel Rechtshaid.
“On this album, there’s a lot of organic sounds and a lot of performance,” Rostam Batmanglij told SPIN. “You want the personality of each performer — whether it’s singing or bass or drums or piano — to be intact. In some ways it’s much more challenging to preserve that and to also make music that sounds modern.”
