All aboard the night bus: dubsteppers reveal new vid for 'Carbonated'
Post-dubstep luminaries Mount Kimbie have unveiled a new video for ‘Carbonated’, the title track from their July-released EP in support of wonderful debut Crooks & Lovers. The video is directed by known Kimbie associate Tyrone Lebon, and appropriately enough finds its inspiration in London bus rides and sweaty basement clinches.
Says Lebon of the video: “It is about trying to find beauty of young people being of a certain age — it plays on the themes of solitude and individual experiences that happens in life often in company of other people. If you go out to a club with friends, you share an experience together but you also have your own unique solitary moments of the night like walking home alone and noticing little details of the city or even whilst still on the dancefloor.”
The group, who must be considered the Buzzcocks to James Blake’s Howard Devoto (they’re former sparring partners of Blake’s), will reconvene towards the end of the year to begin writing material for a follow-up.
