“Every record sounds the same, you gotta step into my world…” so go the lyrics to Madonna’s hotly anticipated collaboration with Nicki Minaj and MIA – and, funnily, she’s not wrong. Madge hasn’t made much of a departure on ‘Give Me All Your Luvin’’, but her video does feature some moderately racy footage of MIA and Minaj in the cheerleader outfits. Never a bad thing.

The video, directed by Megaforce, features kitschy American football imagery, coinciding with Madge’s Super Bowl half-time performance scheduled this Sunday.

Madonna’s new album, MDNA, is scheduled for release through Interscope on March 26. MIA is also slated to appear on another track on the album called ‘The Birthday Song’.

Ah, now this is a bit good: the official video for MIA’s new single ‘Bad Girls’, as directed by ‘Born Free’ / Justice’s ‘Stress’ provocateur Romain Gavras. The single was announced along with news of a fourth album from the London agit-pop star earlier this week.

Matador Records have made Canadian hardcore band Fucked Up’s Chinese Zodiac singles available to stream online.

The band have released four 7” singles since 2006 to coincide with the year of the Zodiac: ‘The Year Of The Dog’ in 2006, ‘The Year Of The Pig’ in 2008, ‘The Year Of The Rat in 2009, and ‘The Year Of The Ox’ in 2010. The band are set to release the fifth single of this series, ‘The Year Of The Tiger’, on February 6.

This is the first time the tracks have been available to stream for free.

UPDATE: Jack White hadn’t planned to make his April-slated solo debut, the former White Stripes musician told Zane Lowe in a Radio 1 interview last night.

White, who posted the first taster of his forthcoming solo debut Blunderbuss online yesterday, said: “I didn’t really even think of recording under my own name for a long time, I thought ‘I’ve got the rest of my life to do that.”

The guitarist added that he only made the solo record when an unnamed artist failed to show up at his home studio in Nashville last year: “A few months ago, we had a session booked and someone didn’t show up, so I said, ‘I guess we’ll do some of my songs’… It kick-started the whole process.”

White said that most of the songs for the record were written after these initial sessions. “I only had a couple at first… when you’re in The Dead Weather, all four of us wrote songs together in the same room, so I would never write songs on my own for that band.

‘Love Interruption’ — the first original solo recording from the former White Stripes frontman, discounting soundtrack work — is available as a free stream over at Jack’s website HERE. The track will be released as a 7″ along with a non-album B-side, ‘Machine Gun Silhouette’, on February 7.

Blunderbuss will be released on 23rd April  on Third Man Records/XL Recordings.

Produced by White and recorded at his own Third Man Studio in Nashville, Blunderbuss is described by the songwriter as “an album I couldn’t have released until now. I’ve put off making records under my own name for a long time but these songs feel like they could only be presented under my name. These songs were written from scratch, had nothing to do with anyone or anything else but my own expression, my own colors on my own canvas.”

THE wonderful Mr Frank Ocean popped up with a ninety-second snippet of a new track, ‘Voodoo’, on his Tumblr account today.

Sings Frank: “She’s got the whole wide world in her juicy fruit / he’s got the whole wide world in his pants / he wrapped the whole wide world in a wedding band / then put the whole wide world on her hands”

Last week we brought you news of The Flaming Lips’ unlikely latest band of collaborators in the shape of Erykah Badu, Bon Iver and Ke$ha. Now the acid rock veterans have made a song with Ms Badu, ‘Now I Understand’, available for streaming on their Soundcloud account. The song also features rapper Biz Markie and, making her pop music debut, the personal assistant app Siri.
