Needs to get a job (5, 3)

Our very brilliant crossword creator, Ed Mugford, told us about the existence of this cute pic of the Noah and The Whale boys attempting the Pigeon puzzle. Underneath there was a comment from 'Silly Moo': "Oh my god, I have totally done those, they annoy the fuck out of me, it took me over an hour to try and finish it in Fopp and then I gave up."

Not for everyone it seems, The Stool Pigeon crossword.

Free Dave Cloud download

image of Dave Cloud

Oh how we care, so here's a resplendent version of 'Drunken Sailor' by Dave Cloud and The Sea Shanty Choir, kindly supplied by Fire Records.

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Dave Cloud and The Sea Shanty Choir - Drunken Sailor

Factoids: Dave Cloud, from Nashville, is the fella in the white Stetson in those beer ads doing the TV and print media rounds at the moment. He's great, so we did a big feature on him recently. He tells cheap jokes. What does Snoop Doggy Dogg get his clothes clean with? Bllllleeeeeeaaaaach.

Mixtape time!

image of Home Cooking is Killing the Restaurant Industry

Some party pooper will no doubt tell us to not tell you about some of these, but here follows four links to four flavoursome mixtapes currently doing the internet rounds.com

Top of the list, perfectly fine to rip, and not exactly new: Toddla T's Ghettoblaster. Hit up his MySpace. Astounding stuff.

Chicago room shakers Flosstradamus have a couple of boomers up on their MySpace too. Oh boy, they're good.

You wanna go here for the highly-anticipated Diplo/Santogold showdown. Bit of a, ahem, mixed bag that one but still mad decent.

And our French buds Justice did a 15-minute set for some fashion show t'other day. Sound quality average, but that's here. It features a brand new track, don't you know. When I downloaded that one, there was a link to a video of Angelina Jolie "caught up in a nasty sex romp" on the page. And to think they say the internet is assisting in the rapid decline of global morals.

Tell us of others in the forum! In fact, tell us of anything there. It's like a freakin' ghost town. Get with it Pigeons and Pigeonettes!

America’s first Bollywood Superstar

You may have seen that brilliant still of Snoop from the video of his title track to forthcoming Bollywood blockbuster, Singh is Kinng. Here's a sweet clip of the Doggfather getting ready on set that pitched up today.

The man does no wrong. Okay, he does. The whole time. But did you see the video to Sexual Eruption? Well, did ya?

Shit and Shine in Belgium

Here's an exclusive pic of $hit and $hine's five-star generals in Belgium earlier this month, rocking some kind of industrial/carpark/rabbitman/Scouse-traccy-gone-EURO shit. You need to know about these noisy nut-jobs if you don't already. Even Ceefax review their records these days. Ho HUM.

Check their new albums on Load in the US and Riot Season in the UK for some refreshingly obnoxious clatter. Then see them live for something quite different. In Dresden recently they rolled out twenty drummers. Twenty. At the Concrete and Glass festival in October, which The Stool Pigeon is a part of, we'll all be trying to help them smash their own record.

In the meantime, Londoners... August 12, Madame JoJo's with Acid Mother Temple, and September 2 at Cargo with Faust.

Today we are deeply into L-Vis 1990, who released a killer EP yesterday.

This might just be the greatest music video ever made too.

Slottsfjell Festival

Slottsfjell Festival

Here's the not-too-shabby view from the top area of Norway's Slottsfjell festival, held on the outskirts of Tønsberg this weekend gone.

The two main stages are tucked down in a valley to the right. Quality festival.

Factoid: in Norway, the two most popular choices of beer are called Aass and Ringnes. Aass tastes better than Ring.
