With an acclaimed EP, ‘Journal Of Ardency’, already under their belts for Grizzly Bear man Chris Taylor’s Terrible Records, Class Actress deliver a solid full-length effort in Rapprocher — imagine Yazoo with vogueish, ’90s R&B crooning instead of Alison Moyet’s booming tones for an idea of what they’re about. The melancholy likes of ‘Keep You’ will please electro ’heads too cool to go near La Roux’s garish edges, while ‘Weekend’ will have those wishing The Knife never left their Deep Cuts phase behind them purring with delight. The relentless soft-synth onslaught comes over a bit vanilla at times, but stick a flake in it, and this’ll go down a treat.
