Anyone expecting the bohemian experimentation or aberrant arcs of Ritual De Lo Habitual should probably go and listen to Ritual De Lo Habitual, but if the more direct approach of last outing Strays didn’t entirely work, Jane’s Addiction had eight years to get it right this time. And boy do they get it right, with songs like ‘Curiosity Kills’ and ‘Splash A Little Water On It’ being some of the finest in a long, unproductive career, while Perry Farrell’s voice soars, dips and sears and just generally commands like a motherfucker. The Great Escape Artist swaggers with a stomping, pop-rock pomp that never lets up, confirming Jane’s mojo is definitely, defiantly, officially back.
