Days has a lot to live up to: its self-titled predecessor was a perfectly intricate, cohesive whole by a group whose contributions fed into each other with near-psychic effortlessness. Two years on, the New Jersey indie pop outfit have returned with a softer, cleaner sounding record that — while perhaps a little too polished in places — features the same balance of cheerfulness and slacker introspection. The intertwining of slinky riffs and breezy hooks on tracks like ‘Younger Than Yesterday’ — which previously appeared on their ‘Reality’ EP — and ‘Municipality’ makes this another set of summery sounds capable of lifting any atmosphere.
