A reggae DVD shot entirely outside of Jamaica is a strange reggae DVD indeed, and this one proves to be an extremely odd experience – kind of the dancehall diaries of some American lass as she pops around the reggae clubs and festivals in New York City filming shows and grabbing the artists on the street or as they come off stage. Her cull isn’t bad – Sizzla, Sean Paul, Junior Reid, Collie Buddz and others all get cornered – but they’re seldom in the mood for talking. The footage from gigs is of camera-phone quality with sound so bad half the time tracks from CDs are played over the visuals. Somehow, though, it’s so low-budget, it’s fun and Mavado steals the show but dissing everyone he can think of.
